Windows 11 install media, with your drivers already in it

Win11 Image Prep builds a Windows 11 USB for your hardware: only the editions you deploy, your driver packs injected before setup starts, built-in apps removed, and unattended or Autopilot setup if you want it.

The new Win11 Image Prep flow, simulated in the browser with a made-up driver pack. No sound.

How it works

From ISO to bootable USB

Choose everything first, then build. Nothing is mounted or changed until the build starts.

  1. 1

    Source

Drop in a Windows 11 ISO. The editions inside are read and listed; install.esd ISOs work too.

  2. 2

    Editions

Keep the ones you deploy. The rest are removed before anything is mounted.

  3. 3

    Drivers

Add Surface MSI packs, ZIPs or folders. Each is extracted once and sorted for setup, recovery and Windows.

  4. 4

    Apps and setup

Remove built-in apps, and choose standard, unattended or Autopilot setup.

  5. 5

    Build

A bootable USB, an ISO or a saved image, with a timing for every stage in the log.

What you get

A USB that just works on your hardware

No drivers to load by hand in setup, no apps to clean up afterwards, and no editions nobody asked for.

Drivers there from first boot

Storage, network and input drivers go into WinPE and Windows Setup, so setup sees the disk and the Surface keyboard works. Every driver goes into Windows.

Quicker driver injection

Each pack is extracted once, boot images only get the drivers they need, and the recovery image is serviced once and reused.

Only the editions you need

Pick Pro, Enterprise or whatever you deploy. With one edition in the image, setup installs it without asking.

Built-in apps removed

Xbox, Clipchamp, consumer Teams and the rest, removed from the image so they're never installed for anyone. The list is read from your ISO.

Unattended or Autopilot

Answer the setup questions for you, or partition the disk and hand over cleanly to Autopilot with your company branding.

USB, ISO or saved image

A UEFI FAT32 USB, an ISO for Hyper-V or Configuration Manager, or a saved image to write more USBs later without rebuilding.

Get started

Download and run

Download WinImagePrep_full.exe from GitHub and run it. There is nothing to install. It opens without administrator rights so you can drag files in, and asks for them when the build starts.

  • Windows 10 or 11 (x64) with administrator rights
  • A Windows 11 ISO and your driver packs
  • About 25 GB free on the working drive, ideally an SSD
  • A USB stick of 14 GB or more (it is wiped)

Questions

Frequently asked

Why is the demo a simulation?

Building an image needs Windows, administrator rights and DISM, and writing a USB needs raw disk access. None of that can run in a browser, so the live demo walks through the same steps with a made-up driver pack and simulated progress.

What do we need to run it?

Windows 10 or 11 (x64) with administrator rights, about 25 GB free on the working drive, 8 GB of RAM or more, and a USB stick of 14 GB or more. The download is a single exe with .NET 8 included.

Does it work for devices other than Surface?

Yes. Any driver pack that contains INF files works: an MSI, a ZIP or a folder. Surface packs are what it was built and tested with.

Setup can't see the disk or the keyboard. What now?

The driver's class probably isn't in the boot driver list. The log shows which classes went into setup; add the missing one in settings, or switch on the option to put every driver into the boot images. The docs walk through it.

How long does a build take?

It depends on the driver pack, how many editions you keep and your disk. Every stage's time is in the log, with a summary at the end, so you can see where the time goes.

Click through it before you download

The demo is a simulation of the app with a made-up Surface driver pack: choose editions, drivers and apps, review the plan and run a simulated build. Nothing is downloaded, built or sent.
