Migration Batch Planner
Coming soonA tool for grouping users into migration batches based on access patterns, delegation relationships, and shared resource dependencies.
Why batch planning matters
In most tenant-to-tenant migrations, users are batched alphabetically, by department, or by office location. This seems logical on the surface — but it regularly creates problems that are only discovered after migration.
When users who share delegate access, calendar permissions, or shared mailbox access are split across different migration batches, the result is broken access during the coexistence period. A manager may lose visibility into a direct report's calendar. A team may lose access to a shared mailbox that was migrated in a different batch. Cross-tenant permissions don't carry over automatically.
The Migration Batch Planner will help you group users into batches that respect these dependency relationships — so that migration batches are aligned with how people actually work, not just how they appear in the directory.
